My birth story… by Genna

When I found out that we were having twins it was a total shock to me and my husband. We didn’t know what to expect! We were married but still very young, only 20 years old and my husband is in the army so we live away from all our family.

The labour went well they were born 7 minutes apart on 9th November 2005. Crystal came first at 6lb 4oz, then Melisa at 4lb 10 oz. When they were born I was so nervous – they were so tiny I thought that they would break! I didn’t have a clue, I had never even changed a nappy! I was so worried. How I was going to cope ? Especially when my husband goes away on exercise for a few days.

The first couple months were hard as they were feeding every 3 hours and it felt like they would never sleep. We were completely knackered. The girls are now 3 and a half months we think they are identical – it’s mad! They have different personalitites, at the moment one is trying to roll and the other is trying to sit up. It is mad – sometimes when one hiccups the other gets hiccups too! When we are out everyone comments on how beautiful they are. It puts a big smile on our faces. I just wanted to share with others that it is a struggle but you will get there in the end.
