Diary of a Twin Mum
Hi I'm salamander, AKA Amanda! I have beautiful ID boys, Taylan
and Vyan, 10 months old as I write this. They were born 9 weeks
early in Royal Gwent, Newport. I live with my dad after the boys
dad Steve decided it was hard work looking after twins. I have just
gone 21!!!! I can't wait to get my own house, cos much as I love
my dad, I love my freedom, and yes, I AM A TWINSCLUB ADDICT! This
is my Twin Mum Diary.
Saturday
Steve usually has the boys on Saturdays, so its usually my "easiest"
day. We get up at 6.30am (their choice, not mine), I feed them,
get them dressed. I have strict instructions from my mate to get
myself looking half decent as well...she has a surprise for me,
a late birthday present. I find out at 12.00pm what it is. Steve
picks up the boys at 9am, then I go out. It takes an hour and a
half to get to Wales (we go most Saturdays) because the football's
playing, its usually half hour journey. At least I don't have the
boys with me. When we get to Wales, I get told my surprise, I'm
going to Birmingham later, to see Evanescence live! It had been
arranged for my dad to look after the boys, but I naturally spent
all night worrying if they were ok, if they settled, if they played
up, if my dad was managing etc etc. Was a good night though.
Sunday
Woke up about 7am. I HATE early mornings, I used to be a 10am person,
not a minute earlier. Made the most of the nice weather though,
Steve came over and we took the boys to Weston Super Mare. We walked
along the sea frint, then went to the shops. Taylan kept pulling
his hat off, so we went into ELC and bought some now toys to keep
them amused. Ended up going into Burger King to feed them, got pitying
looks from people as they tried their hardest NOT to eat their food.
There were far too many interesting things to be looking at to worry
about food! The rest of the day was spent with the boys sat outside
watching my vaccuum my car.
Monday
Another early start...I really should go to bed earlier myself.
Vyan woke up first and woke Taylan up. I had to et up 4 times between
5am and 7am to insert tummies, roll over onto backs and put covers
back on. Got the car insured today, so me and my brother went to
Tesco to stock up on baby food! I then went to visit my mum, but
realised I had forgotten to buy nappy sacks...looks like I may need
to take a trip out again in the week. I have ran out completely!
I went out in the evening once the boys were in bed. I go out a
couple times a week to see my friends, it helps me keep my sanity!!
Tuesday
You guessed it, early again, all because of Taylan and his "bum
department" Not the best start to the morning! Vyan managed to sleep
through the SCREAMING Taylan, and was in bed till 8am. Lazy day
today, I'm really tired, the weathers not very nice and I'm just
generally lacking energy. I have to go back to tesco, but the thought
of dragging them two with me puts me off. I wait till theyare in
bed and go, my dad looks after them! What would I do without him?!
Wednesday
Had a visitor today, Lindsey (I think thats the way you spell it)
with her twins Natasha and Dylan. I thought I'd toddler-proofed
the living room...how wrong was I!! They empty the toy box, Natasha
flirts with Taylan, everyone gets tired and grizzly. It was nice
though to see someone else who has twins. It was the first time
we'd met. We arrange to go to twinsclub on Friday! Boys take a while
to settle, and wake up a couple times in the noght. I think it may
be their teeth.
Thursday
Steve has the boys again today. Got them up, dressed them, put them
back to bed! I go see my mum, and Steve picks the boys up from her
shop in Bristol. I some time helping her out, then go home to have
a shower and relax, get myself ready to go out tonight. Steve brings
the boys back just before their last feed, we get them changed,
feed them and put them to bed. Then I go out to the pub again.
Friday
Have to be organised this morning...gotta make it to the twinsclub.
It's my first time, and I'm meeting Lindsey in the car park just
before 10! We meet up, go in and her twins go off and play, I put
mine in the "soft corner". I have never seen so many twins all in
one room!! It was quite wierd really. I don't know why I find the
concept of twins in a twins club wierd, but you are used to being
special and unusual, there we were just us! After that I go to see
my mum with the boys. Luckily its warm, because Taylan threw up
all over his clothes and my mums shop stunk of sick for ages. Taylan
was sat there in his vest looking all innocent! Took them home after
4pm and let them relax on the floor for the rest of the evening
