DIARY OF A DEAF TWIN MUM

Hi, my name is Rachael Griffiths (Aka Rachael77) and I'm 27 years old. I live in Glasgow with DP Stephen who is 33. We have four children, Jamie aged 6, Benjamin aged 3 and four months old non-id twins girls Hayley and Holly. I am a SAHM.

SATURDAY

Woken up at 5am by Ben who was wailing as he came into my bedroom. He was soaking wet and had wet the bed. Took his PJ's off and chucked him into our bed, while I went to get his milk. The twins girls were in their cots next to my bed and had slept through Ben's wailing! Got up and put Ben's bedcover, sheet and duvet in the laundry and went back to bed. Got up at 7am by Ben again who wanted breakfast so made him some. Did the dishes and tidied up the kitchen before the girls woke up at 8am. They had their bottles and played for an hour before Ichanged and dressed them, and the boys too. Jamie and Dp Steve woke up, getting ready for football. Ihurried down to the shop without the kids to buy basic stuff before Steve went away. Made lunch for the boys. Bottles for the girls. Jamie goes out to play and Ben went for his afternoon nap. The girls slept for 2 hours and while they were asleep, Icleaned the whole flat as I do every saturday, loads of washing, mopping floors in every room, cleaning bathroom, tidy up the boys room which looked like a bombsite! Did a bit of ironing. Girls woke up, another bottles, feed them baby food 'carrot and lamb with rosemary', they love it! Tthey looked messy so give both a bath. Dressed them into pj, let them play for a wee while, while Igo and make dinner, lasagne and chips. Bathe the boys, girls go to sleep at 6.30pm. Steve came home and we had dinner. Checked in twinsclub for an hour then started cleaning up again, once the boys in bed. After finishing cleaning..did another load of washing, then sat down on the pc, log in twinsclub and talked to friends on msn...watched a bit of telly... just relaxing with myself on a Sat. night and a bag of doritos! Had a nice hot bath, then off to bed after midnight!

SUNDAY

Had a little lie-in as Steve got up this morning with the kids....got up about 9.30am and it was a beautiful hot day! We decided to go out for the day as a family, we all got dressed....had lunch.... fed the boys lunch and the girls their bottles. Packed their bags, bottles, bibs, nappies, wipes etc! Put the girls in their pram and took them down three floors down (lived on top floor of an apartment!) and we all walked for 15 min to Glasgow Green. It has a large play area on a beach (not a seaside but in the city!!) and a large picnic area and lots of green grass. The boys immediately run away and play!! Holly was screaming for half an hour.. didn't know what the matter with her... try to give her bottle, dummy, change nappy, wind her.... nothing...she really screams loud! Finally settle her in the pram pushing back and forth! Found a nice spot on the sands ....in the shade to keep the babies cool.

Ben wanted to go on the chute so that meant I had to go with him ... it also meant climbing three ladders to the top...barefeet....... I had Ben on my lap and we went down the chute. Ben loved it! Jamie was busy making new friends and playing everywhere! Ben goes onto the chute himself...and he really good at climbing for his age! I fed the girls.... took them out and sat them on the sand for the first time. Holly didn't like it at first.... and Hayley laughed and kicking the sand! Put them back into the pram and they went for their nap. I sunbathed for a while...as well keeping an eye out for Ben! ...Saw Ben about 12 feet above on the wooden plaything... and the pole that you are supposed to come down....he gave me a wave...and I screamed NOOOOOO! He jumped and I tried to catch him but missed him...he fell face first onto the sands!! My heart just jumped! You couldn't see his face at all as it was covered in sand!! Steve and I were frantically trying to wipe his face with baby wipes and then he was fine! It was a stupid stunt jumping like that!! It was a good job it was sand and not the hard concrete ground! At 6pm... it was time to go home.... we bought ice cream for the boys and walked home.....Halfway home, Ben was soo tired so I took out Holly and Ben went in the buggy!! I carried Holly... I think she loves the view from my shoulder as she keep looking around! Got home... decide to get chinese for dinner as we couldn't be bothered cooking! Steve phoned for the chinese while I bathe the girls and dress them into vests.....and bathe the boys too as they have half the beach on them! Fed the girls their last bottle and they went to sleep at 7pm.... the boys went to bed after they had their chinese. Clean up the flat, put a load in the washing machine. then I sat down, logged on the pc, looked in on Twinsclub and had a long night chattering away to Gabby, Susan, Sally and Kate! Steve fall asleep on the sofa at 9pm!! Got off the pc at 11.30pm, went for a nice hot bath, then bed.

MONDAY Got up at 5am by Ben...... nagged at him to go back to bed and gave him milk. Sleep till 7am, when both of the girls woke up... they were gurgling away and laughed at each other! Ben woke up. Gave them their bottles and took them to the living room... they play with their gym mobile on the bouncy chairs for an hour, and Ben watched telly. Jamie got up and gave the boys their breakfast while I tidied up the kitchen, put in another load of washing ....put away clean clothes. Fed the girls at 11am, and they went for a sleep for about an hour. Jamie goes out to play with friends. Steve goes to work and won't be back till 3pm. Ben plays in his room while Ido the ironing. I hate ironing! Had lunch at 1pm....Jamie didn't come home for lunch till 2pm. The girls woke up, had their bottles and played on the floor together. Steve came home and I took the girls out in their pram and walked to Tesco. Lots of people stopped me to looked at the twins, admired them, and bombarded me with questions! Managed to get my shopping done and bought Ben's birthday cake and walked home. Hate going up the steep hill with my twins buggy and loads of heavy shopping bags.... I was sweating and so out of breath when I got to the top of the hill. Made me wish I had a car!!

Got home..press the buzzer for Steve to come down and give me a hand with the buggy and the shopping up to the top floor (3rd) . Steve made dinner, while I fed the girls food, fruit blended with rice, and gave them both a bath, dressed them, and bottlefed again before they went to sleep at 6pm. We all had dinner, had to seperate the boys as they were fighting! Gave them both a bath and Steve went football training. Clean up the flat, did the dishes, put in loads of washing and put away clean clothes..... gave boys their supper before bed. They were fighting again over what video to watch. Instead I picked the video, either that or no tv/video!! Put in more loads of washing and wet washing in tumble dryer.... seen the ironing pile going higher and thought I can't be bothered doing the ironing..instead went on Twinsclub!! Chatted to Sally all night. Steve came home and I went for a bath, put twins in their cots then I went to bed!

TUESDAY Steve got up this morning to feed the girls, and was up with the boys. Got up at 9am... the flat was a mess!! Cleaned up the whole flat, washing loads in, dressed kids, Jamie went out with a friend Liam, to KidsZone in the sport centre, kids activity for two hours. Fed girls, and they went for a long nap. Wrapped up parcels and went to the post office to post them off. Quickly went to Tesco for a little food shopping....forgotten to buy couple of things yesterday and walked home in the heat! I sweated buckets!! Got home... Steve's friend Kevin came over with his son Darren who is the same age as Jamie, the boys played together. Jamie came home, and bought Liam in to play as well as his mum Arlene, my friend. She had got her baby boy Jacob with her and I entertained the babies for a while, bottlefed them, and they went for another nap. Meant to go to the clinic for the babies weight but we were too late! Clean up flat again, sorting out clothes to put away. Tidy up my bedroom as the clothes were all over the floor and the bed...Ben had chucked it out of the ironing basket and I got annoyed!! Jamie's three friends were at the door so they came in too....and they were all playing playstation 2.....seven boys!! Steve made dinner...three boys went home...the kids ate in the kitchen while us adults ate in the living room..there were food fight going on in the kitchen, food on walls and floor! Steve gave them all a big telling off! Mum came online on msn.....she is home from her holiday in Jamaica...we were on the webcam as the kids wanted to see Nanna, and she wanted to see the Grandkids! Gave each other a wave and blow kisses!! Gave the babies their bath, dressed and bottlefed before they went to sleep at 7pm. Clean up kitchen..clean up the flat and that everything been done. Chucked Steve and Kevin off the pc..just in time for the quiz night in the Twinsclub chat room at 8pm. It was fun and I had a laugh..eating my Doritos and I was relaxed, but I played crap this week! Lol! I been asked to set up next week quiz questions and I agreed to do it. Surfed the internet for ideas on questions and did some research. Jamie's friend Darren stayed the night, and wouldn't sleep till late. Talked to Gabby and Sally on msn. Went for a midnite bath and got to bed just before 1am!

WEDNESDAY Woken up by a blaring loud tv noise just before 7am, it was Darren playing on the playstation 2 in the living room! He had woken me, the babies and Ben up! Jamie slept till 8am. Bottle fed the girls and they went to sleep for an hour. Gave boys their breakfast, heard a lots of shouting in the kitchen and caught Darren throwing cornflakes in the air with a spoon! It was all over the wall and floor again! Told him off and also told them both off for making far too much noise! Checked in Twinsclub and surfed the net again for more ideas on the quiz questions. All three boys been carrying on all morning and the flat was a mess and the babies were a bit unsettled due to lots of noises by the boys! Dressed the kids, fed the girls, gave the boys some lunch. Steve came home. Girls went for their nap, and I sent the boys out to play in the garden to give the girls some peace and quiet!

At 2pm, Steve took Darren home, he also took Jamie with him, and Ben went for his afternoon nap.. so it was a very quiet afternoon for me and the girls. Girls had another bottles, Holly had two 6oz as she was soo hungry! They went to sleep in their travel cot. Cleaned up the whole kitchen, mopped the floor, and I did the bathrooom too. Tidy up the living room, put the girls in my bedroom, lifted the rugs off the floor in the living room, and gave a good sweep up, and mopped the floor too. I went to the bedroom, the girls and I were playing on the bed, they were laughing loads when I was talking to them! We all fell asleep on the bed together for an hour!! Woken up by the door buzzer, it was one of Jamie's friends......told him that he is not here and that he staying over at a friend's house, he still come back every 20 mins about ten times for jamie!! The sound of buzzer drives me nuts! Ben soaked the bed, chucked the duvet/bedsheet in the wash! Cook dinner, checked Twinsclub, changed girls into pjs, play with them for a little while, fed them, and they went to bed at 7pm. Ben and I had dinner, gave Ben a bath, play with him for a little while. Put on clean bedsheet and duvet on Jamie and Ben's bed. Dressed Ben into pj, and he played in his room for a while. It nice to hear there are no fighting going on, now seeing as Jamie is staying overnight at a friend! Checked Twinsclub, talked to mum and she was telling me all about the holiday. Talked to sally (sallyf), Gabby and Susan (Cbmum) for a short time. Steve came home, and I went for a nice hot bath. Watched telly and relaxed for a bit then I went to bed just after midnight!

THURSDAY Had a little lie-in with Ben in our bed between me and Steve...the girls slept in till 8am. It was a lovely quiet morning! Fed girls and dressed them, gave Ben his breakfast and dressed him too. Was telling Ben that he is going to be three tomorrow, don't think he understood that it is his birthday tomorrow! He wasn't excited or anything, just saying yeah yeah yeah! More washing loads to do..did that all morning and ironing too. Cleaned up the flat, not much to tidy. Fed twins before I took them to Tesco shopping again for bits and piece and a nice slow walk home. Took Ben outside to play in his little trike for a while. Kevin came at 4pm and bought Jamie home from an overnight stay. We went back in .Fed the girls food again, bathed them, dressed them and gave them their last bottle before bed. Jamie wanted to go out to play... Itold him not till after dinner, and he threw a temper! Was in a huff and he took it out of Ben who actually done nothing and both ended up fighting and screaming! They did this for an hour and I told them both off..and separated them! Kevin stayed for dinner as he and Steve are going to football training tonight. they went away leaving me piles of dirty dishes!! Jamie went out to play, and I gave Ben a big bubbles bath. He played in there for ages! Finally got him out and dressed him. He played quietly in his room and watching a video. My friend Arlene came with her son Liam..asked me if Jamie can go with them ten pin bowling, and off he went. I took in arlene's baby - Jacob - he is 2 weeks younger than the girls. Entertained three babies...it felt like I have triplets and not twins! They were all good babies. Girls went to sleep in the travel cot and Jacob was in his carseat.

Clean the dishes, tidy up the kitchen and all others room, before sitting down and log on Twinsclub and chat with Gabby my mum and friends on msn. Jacob woke up 9pm, fed him, and changed him, nappy and pj. He cried if I put him back in his carseat...or in the bouncy chair or the gym mobile...he prefers to sit on my lap! Arlene bought Jamie back at 10pm....he had a great time and never stopped talking about it. Jamie went in for a bath...he spent an hour in there!! Nagged at him to get out of the bath and he came out all wrinkles!! He went to bed and fall asleep straight away! I started wrapping up Ben's birthday presents, have it all ready on the table in the living room. Steve came home from football. Went for a nice long bath! Watched telly with Steve and we had a fright when a big lighting zapped in front of our window! We had thunder and lightening!

FRIDAY Ben woke me up at 5am again. It is his 3rd birthday today and he doesn't know it yet! Trying to get him back to sleep in my bed as it was still early! He doesnt want to go to sleep, he wanted to watch the cartoon in the living room. Try to keep Ben out of the living room as all the presents were on the table!! I gave up at 6am, and woke the entire family up to go into the living room and watched Ben opened his presents! The girls were in their bouncy chairs, their legs were kicking, Ithink they were exciting at seeing colourful presents sitting on the table and hearing Ben screaming in delighted! Fed the girls and dressed them. They played together in the travel cot as usual. Jamie and Ben were playing, they were fighting as Ben wouldn't share jamie his new toys.. told Jamie to leave it as it is Ben's birthday today. Ben gone wild, screaming, picking on and bullying Jamie...he was also very cheeky to me! I thought what's happened to him!! He is a different boy today! Trying to get the boys ready...they were still fighting and screaming with each other! Mum came at 11am, with lots of present for Ben and from her holiday. Fed the girls and we went swimming at lunchtime...first time with the twins. Worried, hoping the girls would like the cold water! Dressed them into the gorgous cossies that cbmum sent me from Twinsclub. Took them to the pool, the boys ran and dived in! Took the girls in the shallow water, give them a dip... Holly was whimpering, then smiles, and whimpering again, where Hayley she loves it, she was smiling loads and was gurgling lots! We spend over an hour in there. Mum and i took the girls out and I dressed them both. we all got dressed and got ready and went to Geronimos's....a softplay area. The boys went in to play, while the girls sleep in their carseats. I ordered some late lunch for all of us. the boys enjoyed themselves playing for two hours! We went home, just before 5pm, we did the birthday cake, a Thomas cake, and sang 'Happy Birthday' to Ben, along with mum, the girls, Jamie and Steve.

Mum had to go home, so the boys and i went outside to waved her off. Boys had ice cream, and Jamie went off to play with friends. Took Ben back in, he almost fell asleep onto his ice cream!! Changed him and cleaned him up, and took the birthday boy to bed at 6pm!! Steve fed and changed the girls and bottlefed them before they went to bed. I went out with Arlene to Mecca bingo, and meet other friends Steffie and Susan there. We had a good night, a good laugh and a good gossip and none of us win anything! Went home, checked in Twinsclub and chat with friends on msn! Went for a nice hot bath and went to bed as I feel so shattered after a long day! Got outing planned for tomorrow and christening on Sunday!
