Twin Mum diary

Hi my name is Jan (madmrssmith). I'm 30 years old and married to Mark (40!) . We have 8 children in total ( they're not all with us full time though ) : Martin, 13, who has dyslexia, dyspraxic tendencies and a little add and something else as well ( when they make their minds up!); Thomas, 13, and also dyslexic; Andrew, 12 ; Stephen, 11 ; non id twins Robin and Davy (also mildly dyslexic ) age 9; and non id twins Mia and Ellen age 3.

We live in Norwich, Norfolk.

SATURDAY 20TH NOVEMBER - Uggg , up too early! Yesterday was dh's 40th birthday, the children threw a little party for him at my mums then Nanny babysat so we could go to the cinema where I blew my diet eating lots of popcorn, lol. The girls aren't too well today and dh is fixing pc's so it's a day stuck at home. The girls were very grumpy so we decided to decorate some cookies meaning that we left little silver balls and icing everywhere! I couldn't get any housework done till the girls went to bed so Iwas rushing round til 10pm trying to get organised ( well I can dream ) then flea sprayed the cat.

A little while later I noticed that the cat looked a bit odd, I picked him up and saw he'd managed to get one of the little silver balls stuck up his nose- great! While I was carrying him and looking up his nose trying to figure out what to do he sneezed and out shot a snotty ball and hit me right in the face! YUK ! I think this was his revenge for the flea spray. Got to bed eventually about midnight.

SUNDAY 21ST - Another early start and lazy day, girls very grumpy still so apart from a bit of shopping we didnt do much. Late getting to bed as Mia had a very high temperature and we had to sponge her down to keep her cool.

MONDAY 22ND - Up at 6 then rush about getting boys to school and girls to nursery (peace for a few hours!) did Irush round tidying up? like hell I did! I went to bed til noon! The girls were tired and techy after nursery so spent the afternoon watching a Disney film and vegging out. After school it was time to take the boys to their swimming lesson, tonight we got the results from their tests this term, Martin was on level 3 and passed, Andrew, Robin and Davy were on level 2 and they passed levels 2 and 3 so they'll all be on level 4 after christmas, we're really pleased with them.

Back home about 7.30pm got them all in bed by 9 then did some christmas shopping on the net (it's the ONLY way I'll get it done at this rate).

TUESDAY 23RD - Oh dear its my dreaded weigh in day at weight watchers! Lost 1/2 a pound which means I've lost 8lbs in total so far. After my meeting we had to dash to nursery to pick up the photos the girls had done last week. Took the boys ice skating at tea time which was great fun and I only fell on my bum four times! Got the kids into bed by 9 but Ellen wouldn't settle so we brought her down again. Even after calpol she was crying so we ended up spending hours on the phone to nhs direct/nurses/doctors who in the end said if she got worse to take her to the hospital. She eventually fell asleep about 1am so we managed to get a few hours sleep.

WEDNESDAY 24TH - Up at 4am, get boys up at 7.30 and dashed them off to school except Martin who is off with a cough today, dh went off to work and I took Ellen to the doctors. It turns out she's got an ear infection, they gave her calpol, ibuprofen and anti-biotics.We spent the afternoon cuddled up on the sofa watching dvd's (Yep Uncle Walt to the rescue again! ) dh was home at tea time so I finally got some housework done while he gets the girls to bed. Sat down for a brief while with Mark then bed.

THURSDAY 25TH - Up at 5.30am this morning. Martin is still off school and the girls weren't well enough for nursery so Mia spent the day with nanny and me, Martin and Ellen stay at home . Ellen was very poorly and spent all day laying on the sofa dozing in and out of sleep. dh got home tea time and got the girls to bed at about 7pm then we wrapped up and tested the girls birthday presents ready for the morning (nothing like being organised eh?) Martin's coughing was so bad that he had to sleep on the sofa as he was keeping the others awake.

Got to bed at about 11pm so an early night! lol

FRIDAY 26TH - The girls birthdays! where has the last three years gone? They woke at 4am but we managed to keep upstairs til 6am then they rushed downstairs to open their presents. We dropped the boys (except Martin ) at school then headed to the city where they got a bear each from the bear factory, a cushion from the Disney store and met up with their cousin. We then went to Bedlams soft play area for a bit.Ater that it was time for a Mc Donalds and home for a nap while I took Martin to the doctors. It turns out he has a chest infection so we're doing well this week! More anti-biotics to dish out. I was out of the doctors for an hour before I got a call from the school asking me to come and get Davy as he was unwell. Ended up picking all three of them up and taking them to their dads for a bit. We had a party for the girls at my mums where they got lots more presents and we ordered lots of pizza (I was good and had weight watchers pizza instead ) Back home and put the very tired girls up to bed. Phew what a week! I can't believe that my babies are 3 already, it almost made me feel broody....................almost!

Thanks for reading . Jan
