Diary of a Twin Mum

Hi all, I am Cassandra (cass3kids) and I live in Felixstowe, Suffolk with my partner Darren, Ella & Kieran my twins who are 3 and Megan who is 1. Going to have a busy week as Darren is away and we are moving so will be able to account of what it is like to move with 3-yr. old twins and a 1-yr. old in tow.

Saturday 17th April
Ok cheating a bit today as the twins are with their Dad (we aren't together anymore) but in their place have my 10-year-old stepdaughter Georgina. But as you all know the work doesn't stop when the kids aren't here. Get up and turn on my computer, well I'd better check Twinsclub in case I miss something, oh and put a load of washing on, as we are running out of socks (again). Washing up to be done from the night before (why don't we do it the night before?) Megan has a 1st birthday party to go to today so better go and get a present. Party went really well, Megan kept everyone entertained as she was the eldest child and was so well behaved. They were all very impressed when I told them I had 3-yr. old twins as well. Love dropping that one into conversation, especially when they are saying how hard it is with their one little baby, if only they knew!!!!! Visit to Mother-in-laws next (should be fun) Pass the hairdressers on the way, and they have an appointment right away I take it. Megan stayed with me and it was great she was so good, manager had her daughter in who is 18 months so they played together. It is so easy with 1 baby; life would be so simple. Had to go home to get ready as I am going out. (YEAH), and turn the computer on to check Twinsclub, Empty tumbler and put away. Load up with the mornings washing. Darren takes a photo of me with new haircut, this is where it all goes down hill, photo was dreadful I end up in tears and post on the forum, as I felt really awful and fat. Darren takes the children back to his Mum's as they are going to the cinema and I can get ready in peace. My night out was Fantastic, lovely meal, lots of Archers and I'm well away on to the club bit of dancing, catching up with mates - all in all great evening, roll in at 2 o'clock, to find Darren waiting up for me (say no more)

Sunday 18th April
Megan woke up at 7 o'clock - Bless him Darren gets up to her and Georgina. Ella & Kieran get dropped off at 9:30 and rush upstairs shouting "Mummy Mummy it's not night time you have to get up now" So I guess that was my lie in for the week. Come down turn on the computer to check Twinsclub (you get the idea, spare minute = check Twinsclub very easy equation) Start to watch the London Marathon (can't see Mr H anywhere). Washing in the tumble dryer, washing on (1st load). Swimming bags packed. Check Twinsclub (yes very addictive) Swimming was brilliant the children loved it and they are all beginning to swim really well. Get home and put swimming towels in washing machine (2nd load) Start to cook a roast. Try to keep the twins awake (hard work, no sorry complete nightmare). Will confess now this will be only my 3rd roast dinner as usually go to Mums but she is away. In-laws come round to see Georgina before she goes home to Bognor Regis. Dinner ready (send the in-laws home as they're not invited) and my roast is really nice. Even if I do say so myself (proud moment). Have to say Goodbye to Darren as he is taking Georgina home and then on to Reading for work till Tuesday. (Sad moment) I love spending time with him and hate it when he goes away, as I get really lonely and then I eat more. Mum comes round to see the children and help bath the little darlings. Fighting on the chairs, running around knocking Megan over and basically annoying one another and Me, Time for bed I think. I quickly tidy up, wash up and basically do everything before they go to bed, so that I can have proper ME time. It was all to bed at 6:30 (happy moment). Pringles and dips and off I go to the computer, to once again check Twinsclub. Have a little chat in the chatroom when I see this posting for the 1st one to reply to do a diary for the week. Can't type Yes quick enough and low and behold it's me I am 1st YES YES YES, this will give me something to do other than eat whilst Darren is away. Just looked in the mirror, not sure they have cut my hair right so will go back next week to get them to sort it out. This will be a nightmare as I will have the twins and Megan in tow, something I have never done before, but I paid £20 to have it cut and I'm not happy with it. They should do something shouldn't they?

Monday 19th April
Woke at 7:00 to the sound of Mama Mama from Megan check the bed and remember Darren is away so will HAVE to get up, at the same time Ella and Kieran are walking from their room. Cbeebies on and I spin the towels in the tumbler from yesterday. Wash on (1st load). Now have the chants of "we want our breakfasts" and I know if I don't do it now they will carry on. Feed Megan instead of letting her do it, as Weetabix is a pain to clean up. I hate MEGA BLOCKS if I stand on another mega block!!!! Now another challenge to get a nice photo for Twinsclub calendar, I am going to be so busy. Right off the hairdressers, why can't kids just get ready, 1st argument who's sitting in the buggy and who's going on the buggy board. Pass an old couple who move out of my way as I am obviously faster than them and the lady gave me a really awful comment "looks like your disabled" I did laugh as I kind of feel it sometimes but what a comment. Right appointment tomorrow at 9:30 (must remember). Home and get lunch the twins go back to Nursery today (YEAH) they are also excited. Had my friend round with her little girl. Megan decided to rearrange my cupboards in my kitchen (very helpful). Twins home and the fun starts now, arguing already, only been home 5 minutes. Get them dinner, Chicken, chips and beans and surprise surprise they don't like it. Mum pops in after work to see us, comments that the house looks like a kindergarten, as I haven't tidied up all day, and there are toys everywhere, normally I put a few things away at a time, but I can't be bothered. Put the last of the washing on. I now have an empty basket (well apart from a handwash only item) Kids all go to bed at 6:30 and that's when I ate a tube of smarties. Chatting to friends on the phone, ate another tube of smarties whilst checking the 2 Twinsclub forums. 8:50 and the children are still mucking about, this hasn't happened for a long time, trust it to be a night that Darren isn't here, I am slowly getting annoyed. 10'oclock ish retired to my room to phone Darren and get some sleep.

Tuesday 20th April
Megan woke at 6:00, I hate getting up, I want to stay in my bed where it is nice a warm. Get her some milk to see if she'll settle again (no chance) Ella & Kieran are awake now anyway, all down stairs. Try to get away with watching my programmes but it's not worth it all I can hear is "Cbeebies on Cbeebies on" This is when I take time to check Twinsclub for the 1st time. Hairdressers later and the twins are at Nursery today. Take the twins to Nursery and then off to the hairdresser, this time I take a photo of how I would like my hair, and I have to say am much happier with it now. My friend came over with her baby for a cup of tea. I should hang the washing out as it's a lovely day, but I just can't be bothered. But I will. Twins came home, lunch then off to our twins club ( a real one, not a virtual one!. Thought I would bike to twins club, as I haven't used the poor old thing for a while (took photos to post on the forum) Enjoyed twins club today, as the children were good. Back home and the nightmare begins, twins fall asleep (try as hard as I can, can't keep them awake) Megan throws herself around the floor crying. I think I'll get dinner early and get them to bed. I am packing up the twins room as they are staying at their dads tonight and we are spending the rest of the week at Mum's so we can pack in the evenings, Darren will bring takeaway home for me (he's great) so I don't have to cook. Spend the rest of the night shifting boxes and furniture in to the twin's bedroom. Put my only wash of the day on and it's the kids bedding.

Wednesday 21st April
Megan woke at 5:30, not a good time, Darren got her a bottle but would see fall back to sleep, no she wouldn't, so (bless him) Darren brought Megan downstairs and I stayed in bed till 7:30. Get Megan and myself ready, for when the twins come back at 8:30. Off to toddlers today, Kieran is in one of his moods, won't put his shoes on, won't put his coat on and running away everytime I try to get him to get him in the car. Keeps crying saying he doesn't want to come out, well that's tough he has too. Toddler group was good all the children were very well behaved. Come home to spend a little more time packing, but no sooner have I put something in a box one of them is taking it out again (this isn't working with them around) Decided to go to Mum's for lunch. We went to Carpet Right to order carpet for our new bedroom, looking at the carpet and the salesmen asks if we need help so I say not yet but we will. When we have decided Kieran goes up to the man and say's "man we need some help now" and he replies I'm busy at the moment I'll be with you soon (he's the only sales man). We wait 10/15 minutes all the time all 3 of them are running up and down the aisles pushing each other, I can't keep them quite or under control. When I next look he's serving someone else. (I AM FUMING) not only did we ask for his help, but we were in the shop before the old people, and the kids were being really nosy (getting cross as I type). So I march straight to the customer care desk and am greeted by another salesman, he appeared from no where (like the shop keeper in Mr Ben), I complained about the other man, but he couldn't really give a stuff, buy the carpet anyway. Spend the afternoon at Mums. Then home in the evening to pack some more, I am so glad they are only round the corner would be nightmare packing if they couldn't have the children.

Thursday 22nd April
Megan woke at 6:30 this morning and woke both Ella and Kieran up again. Darren brought them all downstairs for me. (he is so good) When I come down I try to get the twins their breakfast but they won't have any till Nanny comes down. Start getting everyone dressed to go to twins club. It's a nightmare as we haven't got many clothes here. We are all ready by 9:30 (although if I am on my own I am normally ready by about 9:00, far more organised on my own). Twins club was really good as they were all outside as the weather was lovely and we had quite a few people there as numbers have been falling. Back to Mum's for lunch. Megan goes to her Nana's for the afternoon so that we can go to the house to pack more things. Kieran and Ella come with us (big help, not). Take the twins to the pet shop on their bikes and they did really well to get there and back. We all go back to Mum's to get the kids ready for bed. Then head off back home, Darren has got the hire van so we can start loading up. This is done really quickly as there are 8 more people to help us. You've never seen so many people in my house. And it's the longest time my brother has spent in the house the entire 3 years I've been there. Once we have loaded back to Mum's for some dinner. Then back to the house to give some of the rooms a clean. Once home I think I fell asleep in about 5 mins I was so tired and my feet were dropping off, never mind BIG day tomorrow. Megan woke at about 3 but we just gave her some milk so she would go back to sleep, that's all we need to be tired for tomorrow.

Friday 23rd April
MOVING DAY - Luckily Megan woke at 7:15 Yey a lie in! All the kids downstairs and tell the twins we are moving to the new house they are so excited. Also they were so good, ate all their breakfasts, got dressed when told and even got their shoes on when told. Well we had told them they could ride in the lorry. Take the children to our house and Ella and Kieran help load their toys on to the back of the lorry, we then take them to Darren's mum's for the day. Megan went to one of my good friends across the road, so children free for the day (if only we could do some thing nice) The house is emptied by midday which is when we got the phone call from the people buying our house. Mrs Lee had gone into labour this morning (great timing). Luckily they had plenty of help with their stuff. Well all packed seems a bit strange leaving our old house, but on to better things. The people at our new house are still moving their things out so a bit of waiting around. Finally get in and what can we smell? - GAS. Yes we have a bl***y gas leak, that's all we need, get a emergency engineer round to make it safe, but we now don't have any gas, which means NO HOT WATER. Good job the kids were staying at Mum's anyway. Well we're in, not very straight but we're in. We are really pleased our new house is lovely, needs a bit of work, but I need to be kept busy.

End of my week!
