My birth story, by Caye Anderson

I was only 17 when I found out I was pregnant, I had the worst time because I'd just split from the girls dad - one of those madly in love teen things!! Then to find out it was twins, my god, I was terrified!! I was really lucky in my pregnancy, no morning sickness or anything like that. I turned 18 & had my scan at 25 weeks was told then that I could go into labour any time, whatt a way to celebrate your 18th!!!! At 30 weeks I was totally huge looked like I was carrying quads!!!

I couldn't eat even if I wanted to because one of the twins was lying on my stomach so it was really compressed. So I never felt hungry, all I did was drink milk & water (8 pints of milk and 2 litres of water a day) I was very anaemic but other than that, quite well.

At 33 weeks & 6days I went for another scan only I was then sent to cardiology as I had an irregular heart beat. Once there, I was told that the twins were putting a strain on my body & that if I didn't go into natural labour by the following Friday then they'd induce me. By Sunday I decided to go visit my aunt 20 miles away. I had what I thought was very bad back ache and indigestion on the way there. I was at Christine's for about one hour and just couldn't get comfy so my aunt decided to take me back into Edinburgh to the hospital. Guess what ? They had lost my files and I'd left my notes at cardiology 3 days before!

However after a quick examination they found I was 4 cm dilated and that my back waters had broken in the car on the way there!! 11 hours later after having been sick from the gas and air, and having an allergic reaction to the epidural I pushed Beth out (with the help of the ventous cup) into the world 5llb 11oz! 34 mins later Sophie came too, bum first assisted by forceps 6llb 4oz!! This was a great experience. I'd go through the pregnancy again as I loved it but the labour-never again ! I'm very happy with my brood but at the current age of 22 I am adamant I will never have any more children!!
