Review :I have had the Mountain Buggy Urban Double
since birth and I have to say that it has been absolutely
excellent. When they were tiny I had the double carrycot which
fitted on the chassis – and they slept in that for all their
sleeps for the first few months. I didn’t change over to the
seats until they were about 6 months old when they were too
big to go in the carry cot! (They were still perfectly happy
in it !!)
Now, using it as I buggy I love it – it’s a dream to push
and although it is very heavy and bulky to lift in and out
of the car (only just fits in the boot of my Golf) I think
the benefits of how easy it is to push and turn far outweigh
the weight and bulkiness when lifting it. The children are
always happy in it – they are quite reclined, but it really
doesn’t seem to bother them. I am so glad I spent the extra
money on a buggy as I really think it would have been a false
economy buying a cheaper one – going from the number of buggies
a lot of twin mums get through.
PROs
- very easy to push (swivel wheels which can be fixed for
rough terrain)
- very easy to put up/take down – just has a clip on each
side and the whole thing folds in half
- the children like being in it and NEVER complain about
having to go in the buggy
- feels very robust - lots of space underneath (2 decent
sized shopping bags – quite deep)
- even MORE space when it’s a carrycot !
- will have a good resale value I think
- They sit next to each other and chat/play but they are
in separate bits when lying down so they don’t keep each
other awake!
CONS
- expensive to buy
- very heavy to lift in/out of car -
- bulky to store (particularly with carrycot) -
- they sometimes fight because they are next to each other
If I was pregnant with twins and starting again on the buggy
purchase I would probably still go for the Mountain Buggy
– even though there are a couple of new buggies around now
which possibly would be good as well (in particular the Jane
Powertwin and Phil and Ted’s Explorer)
